Barbara Jean Wesener
1932 – 2025
Barbara Jean Wesener, age 93, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2025, in Saginaw, Michigan. Barbara was a devoted homemaker whose greatest joy in life was caring for her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald Wesener (1929–1997), and together they built a life grounded in hard work, kindness, and having fun
.
She is survived by her loving daughters Judy Wesener (Ted), Penny Wesener, and Laura Putnam. She was a cherished grandmother to Steven Barreras, Jessica Hoffman, Ted Davidson, Matt Davidson, Mike Putnam, Melissa Putnam-Hill, Sarah Putnam, and Lacee Putnam; a proud great-grandmother to thirteen; and a great-great-grandmother to four. She was preceded in death by her sister Shirley Wood, her brothers Gary Konkus and Keith Konkus and her grandson Rodney Barreras.
Barbara loved tending to her flowers-especially peonies, irises, and lilacs-and watching birds, with a special fondness for hummingbirds. She also had a passion for fresh Michigan strawberries, which were her favorite. For many years, she lovingly cared for her own strawberry patch. She had a fondness for cats, and her favorite was "Big Foot," who was known for his playful habit of hiding in the tree out front and gently tapping visitors on the head as they walked up the sidewalk.
Barbara especially loved hosting card games with her family-gatherings that were anything but quiet. The room would fill with laughter, playful teasing, and the sounds of cards being shuffled and slapped on the table. In her later years, she shared a special companionship with Bob Bonk of Birch Run, whose friendship brought her joy and comfort.
Barbara was also active in her community. She volunteered for many years with Meals on Wheels, delivering meals to residents in the areas surrounding her home in Albee Township. She also was an active member of TOPS, Take Off Pounds Sensibly, even being the queen of the convention one year. She also gave her time to help run bingo nights at the township hall. Barbara loved going to garage sales, always on the lookout for a bargain or that special something someone needed. Barbara had very special friends in Tennessee whom she loved to visit, cherishing the time spent with them.
Above all, Barbara will be remembered for her selfless spirit, generous heart, and unwavering support for those she loved. She was always there to lend a hand, offer a kind word, or simply listen. Her quiet strength and deep care for her family and friends left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
Cremation has taken place. A private burial will be held at a later date, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Comfort Care in Chesaning for the compassionate care they provided to Barbara in her final years. We would also like to thank everyone who sent the many prayers over the year.
