Barbara Spivey Wessinger, 71, of Hogansville, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center.
Mrs. Wessinger was born March 21, 1951, in Phenix City, Alabama, daughter of the late Willie Benjamin Spivey, Sr. and Mavis Modine Bishop Spivey. She lived with her husband, Douglas Clifford Wessinger for 47 years. She was a self-employed cosmetologist for many yearsprior to her retirement and was a member of the Hogansville Church of God. She loved gardening and flowers, but most of all she loved her family.
Survivors include her husband, Douglas Wessinger of Hogansville; daughters, Renee Huber (Chad Huber) of Carrollton, Angela Jean Simpson (Chris Burnham) of Hogansville; son, Michael Douglas Wessinger of Hogansville; grandchildren, Amber Hope Olmstead (Jon Olmstead), Matthew Tyler Burnham (Dusty Burnham), Caitlyn Wessinger Snyder (Jacob Snyder), Kelsey Wessinger, Colton Huber, and Bryce Huber; two lovable great grandsons, Bentley Wayne Olmstead and Brantley Levi Olmstead; sister and brother in-law, Linda Kent (Bobby Kent); brother, Larry Spivey; and a dear sister in-law, Paulette Fricks (Lamar Fricks). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter in-law, Shelia Wessinger; sisters, Patricia Ann Spivey, Willie Mae Taylor, JoAnn Kent; and brother, Willie Benjamin Spivey, Jr.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 5, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Randall Hodge and the Reverend Lonnie Bennett will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday.
