Barbara Willoughby Obituary
Barbara A. Willoughby, age 85, lifetime resident of Iowa City, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2025.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Services where there will be a time of visitation one hour prior to the services. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. A memorial fund has been established in her honor.
Barbara Ann Mace was born April 27, 1940, in Iowa City, the daughter of Raymond and Velma (Moll) Mace. Following graduation from City High School with the Class of 1957, she attended the University of Iowa. On September 12, 1959, she was united in marriage to Raymond Willoughby. For many years Barbara worked at the University as an administrative assistant. If you knew Barbara, you knew her love for her family, her dogs, shoes, doing crafts, daily Sodoku puzzles, and in years past camping.
Her family includes her husband of over 65 years, Raymond; their children, Dave Willoughby (Bee) and Diane Willoughby (Joel Schuldt); three grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and her nephew, Ben Sparrow.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Debra, her sister, Nancy Sparrow (Jerry); and her in-laws, Lewis and Mary Willoughby.
