Barney Huffnagle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Broussard's Mortuary - Major Drive on Jul. 28, 2023.
Darryl "Barney" Starkie Huffnagle, 70, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away surrounded by family in his home on July 27, 2023.
He was born on August 21, 1952, to Robert and Annabelle Huffnagle. Barney grew up in Leetonia, Ohio, and always loved being outdoors. His love of gardening came from time spent helping his grandfather in his garden. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1972 until 1975. After visiting Texas, he fell in love with the landscape and wildlife and moved shortly after. He worked for over 20 years in the pipe industry until he retired in 2019. Barney was an avid hunter and fisherman. He spent many weekends at The Wacky Worm Fish Camp that he built with several of his good friends and at various deer leases. When he wasn't at the lake, he loved to tend to his garden and famous flower beds with his wife, Helen. After the sun fell you could find him in the "shop" singing karaoke with friends and family. There was one thing for sure, if you were with Barney you were going to have a good time and always laugh. During his battle with Alzheimer's, he was unable to do most of the things he loved but was blessed to be able to still share many stories from the past.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Helen Huffnagle; mother, Annabelle Huffnagle; sisters, Jane Franklin and her husband, Harold and Joyce Ayers and her husband, Clayton; children, Kathleen Hendon and her husband, Cody and Anna Foster and her husband, Matt; stepchildren, Nikki Jones and Aimee Hatcher; grandchildren, Ian Hatcher, Luke Hendon and Landon Hendon; nephew, Jeremy Ayers and his wife, Rachel; and nieces, Whitney Salazar and her husband, Juan and Chelsey Ayers.
He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Huffnagle; brother, Denny Huffnagle; and nephew, Knute Bernard.
We will be walking in the annual Walk to End Alzheimer's on Saturday, October 7, 2023. Donations are welcome to be made to his team "Barn to Fight" in his memory, donate online.
His cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard's Crematorium under the direction of Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
