Barry Thomas Baker, age 59 of Fruithurst, Alabama, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. Born in Rome, Georgia, on December 10, 1965, he was the son of Nellie Pitts Baker and the late Joe Seals Baker who died in 1990. In addition to his father, Barry is preceded in death by his siblings, Terry Lee Baker, Teresa Jo Baker Jones, and Michael Joseph Baker; his grandparents, Frank Baker, Ida Baker Cooper, Oscar L. Pitts, and Beulah Wingo Pitts; and his step-grandmother, Edna Driver Pitts.

Living out in the country, Barry enjoyed fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed growing and sharing his tomatoes, peppers, and other vegetables with friends and family. Barry worked many years as a logger and was an excellent mechanic working with small engines. Taking care of his dogs, Otis and Snoop, was one of his pleasures, and his fur-baby Snoop was always by his side. Barry's gentle spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish his memories are his mother, Nellie Baker of Muscadine, Alabama; his life companion, Michelle Davis of Fruithurst, Alabama; his 2 step-children; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will host a celebration of Barry's life at the Helton Howland Park building at 2853 US-78, Tallapoosa, GA on Saturday, July 26, 2025, beginning at 1:00 PM GA time. A buffet luncheon will be provided.

Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan is honored to serve the cremation needs of the Baker family.
