Barry A. Barbon, 81, of Kenhorst, passed away on September 7, 2025 in the comfort of his home. Born in Reading, he was the son of Frank W. and Mary J. (Sambrotta) Barbon. Barry was the loving husband of Helen R. (Cole) Barbon, with whom he shared 50 beautiful years of marriage until her passing in 2020.

After graduating from Governor Mifflin High School in 1962, Barry proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. After his honorable discharge, he followed his passion for food, becoming the beloved head chef and owner of Helen's Family Restaurant at Green Dragon Farmer's Market, where he worked for 30 wonderful years. He also ran a popular pretzel stand at Leesport Farmer's Market

Known for his "fists of steel but a heart of gold," Barry had an infectious spirit, loved to share laughter with friends and family, and was a masterful craftsman, enjoying woodworking and gardening. He found joy in simple pleasures, often losing himself in episodes of Columbo.

Barry's legacy is carried on by his grandchildren: Derek Reist, Dean Reist, and Olivia Diedrich, his great-grandson, Mason Reist, and his daughter, Tracey Ravert. He is also survived by his siblings, Frank (Joan), John (Barbara), and Dennis (Lois), as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.

In addition to his spouse, he was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Mary Ann Reist, in 2012.

At the request of the family, services will be private.

Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home is honored to serve the Barbon family. Condolences may be written online at KuhnFuneralHomes.com.
