Barry Lynn Doss went to join his lord and savior Jesus Christ on October 24th, 2024, at Johnson City Medical Center. He was born to C.J. and Mary Doss on December 30th, 1965.
Barry was a graduate of Chilhowie High School and was a graduate of the class of 1984. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, United States Army, and Air National Guard. He also served as a police officer in Knoxville, Tennessee and was a Biomedical Technician for over 30 years.
Barry was preceded in death by his father, Carl Joe (C.J.) Doss. He is survived by his mother, Mary Lane Doss of Chilhowie, Virginia; partner, Amy Mize of Marion, Virginia; son, Tyler Doss and wife, Kendall of Knoxville, Tennessee; daughter, Mary Taylor Doss of Florence, Kentucky; sisters, Donna Miller and husband Jerry of Abingdon, Virginia and Debbie Stuart and husband Tony of Greeneville, Tennessee; brothers, Jim Doss of Chilhowie, Virginia and Michael Doss and wife D.J of Abingdon, Virginia. Barry is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews and also leaves behind his beloved animal companions, especially his dog Sammy.
The visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 29 from 5pm to 7pm at Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. The funeral service will follow at 7pm with Michael Doss officiating. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, October 30 at 11am at Mountain View Methodist Cemetery in Chilhowie, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Charles Hamm, Jim Doss, Jerry Miller, Barry Brooks, Chad Doss, Tyler Doss. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Michael Doss, Tony Stuart, and Jamie Call.
