Barry Dunayer Obituary
Barry A. Dunayer, 83, of Margate, N.J., passed away on February 6, 2026. He grew up in Atlantic City, N.J., and graduated from Atlantic City High School in 1961 and Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1965 with a B.S. degree in Business and Hotel Management. Barry spent his career in the hospitality industry from General Manager of Bally's non-casino properties to casino supervisor at the Taj Mahal.
Barry served six years with the Air Force and Air National Guard through the 177th Combat Support Squadron based at NAFEC. In 1968, he was activated and spent one year in South Korea during the Vietnam War. He was proud to serve his country and was a proud Veteran. He belonged to the Jewish War Veteran's Post 39 in Margate where he was the Junior Vice-Commander; he also belonged to the American Legion NJ Post 25 in Milltown, N.J. Barry was a Mason belonging to Keystone Belcher Lodge No. 153 in Linwood, N.J. In April 2026, he would have been a Mason for sixty years.
Barry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was devoted to his family and friends. Barry was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Rae (Kleiner) Dunayer.
Barry is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothea Dunayer (Belchikoff); children, Suzanne (Jeffrey) Locha and Adam (Audrey) Dunayer. His grandchildren include, Jordan, Ashley, Jarred, Justin, Lindsey, Emily, Kayley, Jenny and Lilly Dunayer and Kyle and Shaun Locha; sister, Sharon (Marvin deceased) Altman; nieces, Beth LaSerre, Cynthia (Ed) Montagna; and nephew, Dr. Matthew (Aimee) Altman. He is also survived by many great nieces, nephews and cousins.
Synagogue services will be held on Wednesday, February 11th, at 10:30 a.m., at Shirat Hayam, 700 North Swarthmore Avenue in Ventnor. A Masonic service will precede the religious service. A livestream will be offered at www.JSGFunerals.com for those unable to attend. Interment will follow at Rodef Sholom Cemetery in Egg Harbor Township. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions in his memory be made to the American Heart Association or Shirat Hayam.
