Barry Feldman of Southampton passed away peacefully at home February 3, 2022. Born in Brooklyn, he was a graduate of Brooklyn College and Rutgers Law School where Ruth Bader Ginsberg was one of his favorite professors. In 1974 he joined the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office working in the Rackets and Organized Crime Bureau where he participated in the prosecution of high profile cases ranging from Son of Sam to notorious mobsters.
Barry joined the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office in 1978 and was assigned to the Major Crime Bureau. During his tenure he served separately as Chief of the Felony Trial Bureau and Chief of the East End Bureau. In 1987 Barry went into private practice in Southampton. He loved the law, working with the Courts, the DA's office and serving his clients.
He delighted in his wife Jill. She treasured him. He adored their pets. He enjoyed reading the newspaper, editorializing aloud, relaxing on a float in the pool listening to music on a warm summer day and visiting with his friends.
He is predeceased by his parents, three siblings, and his first wife Harriet. He is survived by his beloved wife, his longtime secretary Lisa Watson, several nieces and nephews and many friends and acquaintances who loved and respected him. Donations in memory of Barry can be made to the Southampton Animal Shelter.
