Barry is survived by his beloved wife, Mitsuko; a daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Ryan Nacin of Alexandria, VA; and many cousins and close friends. He is predeceased by his mother, Alice Ortlieb.
Barry was born on April 15, 1946, in Martinsburg, NY, the son of the late Alice Ortlieb. He graduated from Lowville Academy in 1965 and joined the U.S. Navy, serving as a Heavy Equipment Operator with the Seabees. His service, which included multiple overseas tours and service in Vietnam, was a source of pride for him and his family. On October 16, 1971, he married the love of his life, Mitsuko Yokoda, in Lowville, NY. Barry retired from the U.S. Navy after more than 21 years of service. His second career was as an Army civilian at Fort Drum, NY, culminating in 2008 as a Transportation Supervisor.
He was an active member and volunteer of the Lowville Baptist Church and Bethel Church of the Nazarene, Lowville. Barry was a Life member of Lewis County Memorial Post #6912, Lowville VFW, where he was a canteen officer and marched in many parades. He loved animals and enjoyed golfing, crafts, embroidery, woodworking, martial arts, bird watching, playing guitar, and attending live hockey games. But above all, his greatest joy came from spending time with his beloved family and friends.
