Barry Portch Obituary

Published by Legacy on Sep. 17, 2025.
Barry Warren Portch, a proud Vietnam Veteran of the 101st Airborne Division, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and love. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Margaret "Peggy" Portch, and by his parents, Clyde and Frances Portch.

Barry is survived by his devoted sons, Bryan and his wife Courtney Portch of Odenton, MD, and Kevin Portch of Long Beach, CA. He is also survived by his brothers, Wayne and his wife Paula Portch of West Palm Beach, FL, and Bob and his wife Vicki Portch of Seaside, CA.

He will be deeply missed by his niece, Carrie Lynn and her husband Ben, and their daughter Evie of Columbia, MD, as well as by his nephew, Jordan Carlson and his wife Abby, and their son Jack of Odenton, MD. Barry also leaves behind his two treasured grandsons-Tyler Wayne (17), whose baseball games he took much pride in watching, and Brady Russell (8), whose FaceTime calls always brought lively conversations about sports. In addition, he shared a special and loving bond with Ava Isabella (10) and Nicholas Lee (6), who filled his days with joy and kept him on his toes.

Barry was a decorated veteran whose integrity, character, and quiet strength were admired by all who knew him. He was particular in the best of ways, striving for perfection in everything he did-especially when it came to his well-groomed head of hair. His passions were many: music, golf, the Washington Redskins, and the Nationals-but above all, his love for family was at the center of his life.

Barry's 50 years of devotion to Peggy, the love of his life, was unshakable. Forever smitten with his "bride," he now joins her in eternity, echoing the words of their song, Didn't I by The Delfonics: "I gave my heart and soul to you, girl." Peggy passed peacefully on August 30, 2025, and together they now rest in everlasting peace.

Beyond family, Barry dedicated nearly 50 years of his professional life to the DC Metro HVAC industry, where he was respected for his expertise, commitment, and unwavering work ethic.

Barry's legacy will live on through his family, his friends, and all who were blessed to know him. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his steadfast loyalty, and the love he gave so freely.
