Mr. Bart Albert Barré

I am so sorry to hear of your loss, Dr. Lissenden. I fondly remember your husband smiling and enjoying tending to his flower garden.

I was stunned to hear about Bart's passing. It was so sudden and unexpected. He was the glue that held the Alpha Chapter together during difficult times. I can't think of another person who worked as hard and was as dedicated. It will be hard to replace his energy and devotion. God bless Bart and his family. Cliff Baumbach Alpha'4

Bart was a true modern Renaissance man who never stopped giving to others and never stopped learning. As a fraternity brother of Bart's, I first met him in 1963 when Iwas a freshman at Penn and he was the adult advisor to the Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity chapter. This started a life long friendship. The hundreds of Phi Kap brothers he subsequently came in contact with on a regular basis were inspired by his devotion to the Fraternity, his friendship, his knowledge and his leadership. We have lost an extraordinary Brother. Rest in peace.

I am so sorry to know of Bart's death. I know how much your family means to mine. Nancy Whitbred is my mom and Bonnie Canevari is my sister and we are saddened that such a special man is gone from us for now. Know my prayers are with you.

Our deepest sympathy to CarolKay, the children and grand-children. Bart was a wonderful human being and we have lost a great man here on our. We pray that time will bring this beautiful family comfort and peace.

Bart was all you could hope for in a next-door-neighbor (and Karolkay was an added attraction when moving here years ago with two small children.) Bart was always kind, always considerate, and we'll miss his presence here on Wild Hedge Lane.

I read his obituary, it beautifully portrayed a lile of a do-er! My respect and condolence to the family Bart left behind. May his soul rest in piece.

I first met Bart when we both served on the Mountainside Borough Council. He was truly an exceptional person, not only through his commitment to volunteer activities, but because of his thoughtfulness and respect for people from all walks of life. Marilyn Hart

Bart was a great asset to PKS and his efforts for the advancement of our fraternity were unmatched. As part of the Alpha Chapter class of 2007 at Penn, PKS was the foundation on which I have made lifelong friends. When I think back to college, most of my great memories were at the chapter house. Thank you Bart, and my condolences to the entire Barre family.

Bart was a great friend and I always enjoyed a catch up call with him. I have always been blown away by his continued commitment to our fraternity, but I had no idea until today just how much time he volunteered to so many other groups. His commitment to being an engaged member of his community is an inspiration to aspire to. I made lifelong friends in the fraternity, and Bart, more than anyone, made that possible. Thank you Bart for your dedication and your friendship, and thank you to Barre family for sharing him with so many people.

Although we met a handful times during my time at Penn/PKS (2003-2007), Bart's influence on the direction of the fraternity is undeniable. He always imparted just how important the friendships made truly are (as evidenced by seeing Bart with some of his fraternity brothers throughout the years). Aside from his commitment to ensuring we had a top notch house, it was his every cheerful mood and levity that livened his visits. Even though we only saw Bart a few times a year, it was truly special when he came to campus. He will certainly be missed.

I was a brother of Phi Kappa Sigma at Penn in the class of 2007. I served as house manager 2005-2006, and worked closely with Bart looking after the Alpha chapter house. Bart was both extraordinarily kind and supportive of me and the entire fraternity. He will be remembered as a terrific mentor and the ideal brother. Thank you for sharing him with us.
