Abingdon, VA – Barton E. “Pee Wee” Roark, age 96, departed this life on June 27, 2023. He was the son of the late Wint and Ella Salmon Roark. He was a retired employee of VDOT with 36 years of service. Barton loved to hunt, fish, and camp. He attended Revival Center Independent Baptist Church in Bristol, VA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife; two brothers; one sister; and a grandson.
Barton is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lola Roark; two daughters, Linda Dodson of Kingsport, TN, and Connie (Tim) Dickson of Haymarket, VA; three grandsons; one granddaughter; four step grandsons; two great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 2, 2023, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Lyons Smith and Rev. Leo Rhymer officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Rocky Ball, David Jones, and members of Revival Center Independent Baptist Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
