Basil Lee Bennett Jr.

Basil Lee Bennett Jr., age 76, of Bloomfield, passed away peacefully at 12:52 pm on Monday, August 28, 2023, at home with his family by his side. He was born in Beech Grove on November 9, 1946, the son of Basil Bennett Sr. and Dorothy (Phillips) Bennett.
Basil served in the Navy abroad the USS Dupont during the 1960's. He was a man of many talents. He was a machinist who took the time to understand how a mechanism was to work, applying his skills to repair it. Many antique clocks were restored by him during the years he operated The Dancing Bear Shop.
While Basil was not working, he enjoyed train traveling, eating out, was an avid reader, and named The Best Cook in the family.
He is survived by Wife, Jane Bennett (Phillips) of Bloomfield, Indiana; daughter, Penny Burris (David) of Bloomfield; grandson and best friend, Allen Burris.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Mike Bennett; sister, Margie Roach.
A celebration of Basil's life will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. with military rites to begin.
Cremation will follow.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12 noon until the time of the service.
