Beatrice (Bea) passed peacefully in the company of family on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the age of 85, after a brief battle with cancer and a life filled with family, friends, good food and lots of laughter.
Bea was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 55 years, Joseph P. Scaletta. She is survived by her loving children: Lisa (Kurt) Simmen, Michelle (Ken) Ward, and Amy (Paul) Pusateri, and her sister Charlotte Karbowski. She was the treasured Nunnie of Benjamin (Emily) and Zachary Simmen, Hannah and Connor Ward, Emma (Dillon) Jenkins, and Tyler (Natalie), Joseph (Amberly) and Grace Pusateri who will miss her dearly.
Bea was born in the Brighton Heights neighborhood of Pittsburgh, PA, on November 4, 1939, and lived in Sheraden for 63 years. She was first, and most importantly, a homemaker but also worked outside the home until she was "forced into early retirement" at 83-years young.
Always stylish, Bea knew how to put together the perfect outfit. She was an expert seamstress, creating beautiful clothes herself. She loved cooking both family favorites steeped in tradition as well as experimenting with new recipes. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family and her many close friends playing games, especially Scrabble. She was often heard exclaiming "I'll be darned!" when the occasion warranted.
Bea was truly loved by everyone lucky enough to know her. She had a gift for maintaining strong relationships and making people feel loved and valued. What a legacy she and Joe have left in their adoring family.
Family and friends are invited for visitation on July 31st, 2025 from 4pm-8pm at Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, 5405. Steubenville Pike, McKees Rocks, PA, 15136. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on August 1, 2025 at 11AM followed by interment at 12:30pm at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Rd., Bridgeville, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bea's honor to the Breast Cancer Foundation.

I am sorry to hear of the passing of Bea. While no longer here physically her spirit will live on in all who knew her. Her spirit was part of a great family reunion, especially with Joe. Know that while we can´t be there in person, our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
