Beatrice J. "Jean" Doud, age 85, of Mansfield, PA, passed peacefully away at her home on Saturday, May 3, 2025. She was born on June 6, 1939, in Watkins Glen, NY, a daughter of Richard M. and Beatrice (Warters) Frank. Jean was the wife of the late Verne Doud with whom she enjoyed 67 years of matrimony before his death on August 19, 2024. She worked as a library assistant for the Wellsboro Area School District, W.L. Miller Elementary School, Mansfield Jr/Sr High School and Mansfield Public Library. Jean was a member of Bakerburg Community Church and enjoyed cooking, tying flies, family and community gatherings, and running a craft store out of her garage.
Jean is survived by her sons, Walter A. (Lisa) Doud of Wellsboro, PA, and Lynn F. (Rebecca) Doud of Mansfield, PA; daughter, Melodie R. Doud of Mansfield, PA; grandchildren, Justin (Amber) Doud, Barton Doud, Bret Wood, and Allison (Chance) Rodriguez; great grandchildren Kyler, Calvert, Pyper, Justin, and Lynn; brother, Glenn Frank of Millerton, PA; sisters-in-law, Patricia Frank Alden of Florida, Marilyn Doud of Mansfield, PA, and Ruth Doud of Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Verne, and a brother, Dean Frank.
Friends and family are invited to call from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. A funeral will immediately follow at 11:00 with Pastor Paul Binkley officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mansfield Free Public Library, 71 N.
