Beatrice Pleasie Hurst, 85, of Cameron, MO died on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at the Gower Convalescent Center, Gower, MO.
A celebration of life visitation will be held 1:00 to 3:00 pm on Sunday, June 2nd, 2024, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison, KS. Family burial will be at a later date in the Sunset Memory Gardens, Atchison, Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Lung Association and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Beatrice was born on Dec. 26th, 1938, in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Ethan Allen and Martha Jane (Simmons) Morast. She graduated from high school in Kansas City and attended beautician school. She spent the majority of her life as a housewife and homemaker. She was married to James Ray Cheek in 1957. They were later divorced. She was married to Robert Hurst in Sept. 1974, and he preceded her in death on April 16, 2013. Her parents, a son Michael S. Cheek, a brother Larry Morast, and a stepson Charles Hurst preceded her in death.
Survivors include her children James R. Cheek, Jr, San Martin, CA, Robert E. (Marilyn) Cheek, Washougal, WA, Sherryl (Eric) Neuforth, Plattsburg, MO, Phillip W. (Angela) Cheek, Pattonsburg, MO, and Allen R. (Carolyn) Cheek, (Tracy, CA) two brothers Jack Morast, The Villages, FL and Hank Morast, Grand Island, NE, fourteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
