Beatrice Samuelson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ready Funeral & Cremation Services - South Chapel on Mar. 12, 2024.
Beatrice Ruth Witt Samuelson died on March 9, 2024 after having lived 106 years.
She was born and raised in New York, New York, graduated Valedictorian of PS156, and attended colleges in New York. During her youth, Bea was an accomplished classical pianist, and during college, worked as a personal shopper for clients in Manhattan. Despite being an inveterate New Yorker, she moved to Burlington, VT after marrying her husband, Sydney. After raising three children, she worked in the finance office in the College of Agriculture at the University of Vermont. In retirement, she volunteered in the gift shop of the Fletcher Allen Medical Center and spent countless hours knitting mittens and hats for various local charities. She would routinely knit over 300 hats each year.
Bea was preceded in death by her husband Sydney in 1969, her son Howard (Ward) in 1984, and her brother Leonard in 1994. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in law (Janet and William Marting of Akron, Ohio, and Harriet Samuelson of Brookline, MA), and a granddaughter and her wife (Catherine and Margaret Pennoyer of New York, New York).
Bea was a long-time resident of Allenwood Senior Living community in South Burlington, and was a member of the Ohavi Zedek Synagogue in Burlington.
She has left her family and circle of friends with a legacy of inspiration, determination and grit. She will be sorely missed.
Graveside funeral services were held on March 11.
