Beatrice Bell Starr, 92, of Frankfort, died on Saturday morning, June 7, 2025, at her home near Austin. She was born on Wednesday, January 4, 1933, in New Martinsburg, a daughter of the late Paul C. and Orpha Marie Miller Cockerill. On April 10, 1952, Bea married Robert E. Starr.
She is survived by her husband, Bob, three daughters: Roberta Kay Puchstein, Karen Sue (Bob) Colburn and Cynthia Lou (Steve) Yahn all of Frankfort, five grandchildren: Aaron Gibson, Holly Markham, Lindsay Smith, Dustin Yahn and Megan Hauser, and nine great grandchildren. Bea was preceded in death by one grandson, Adam Gibson, one sister, Betty DeWitt and one brother, Gene Cockerill.
Bea was a 1952 graduate of Frankfort High School and was the Salutatorian of her class. Her greatest joy was raising and caring for her family. She was a member of the Austin United Methodist Church. Bea was a 4-H adviser with the Austinettes 4-H club, as well as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed her time playing Canasta and being a member of the Hilltoppers Garden Club and the Sewing Club.
The Starr family wishes to say a special Thank You to Heartland Hospice in Washington C.H. and their nurses who provided great care to Bea. A special thank you is also sent to four great ladies who helped provide home care: Maria, Connie, Ellen and Julie and the Hospice aides, Kaylee and Teresa. With all their help, Bea was able to stay in her home during her illness.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 12 noon in the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort with Dorothy J. Countryman officiating. Following the service, Bea will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. Friends may visit with the Starr family beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
