Thomas R. "Butch" Jones, 80, of Clarksburg, passed away on Monday morning, March 16, 2026 at Copper Knoll Health and Rehabilitation, Washington C.H. He was born in Pickaway County on Thursday, February 7, 1946, a son of the late Charles and Kathleen Thacker Jones. Butch married the former Brenda L. Alexander on August 27, 1973, and she preceded him in death on September 21, 2000.
He is survived by one daughter; Twila Jones of Frankfort and one son; Richard "Skip" (Jenny) Jones of Clarksburg, his four granddaughters; Kirsten Jones, Natalee (Nick) Chester, Lauren Jones and Emily Jones, three great grandchildren; Parker Wallace, Emersyn Chester and Holden Thomas Chester. Butch is also survived by one brother; David "Mouse" (Gayle) Jones of Clarksburg and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four sisters; Rosemary Mossbarger, Shirley Cozad, Dorothy Jones and Ruth Evans, and four brothers; Charles "Bo" Jones, Roger "Sam" Jones, Bill Jones and John Jones.
Butch was a 1964 graduate of Clarksburg High School. He was a United States Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. Butch retired from PPG in Circleville where he had worked for 35 years. He loved watching his granddaughters play volleyball and softball. He also loved to watch harness racing.
A funeral service will be held at 11a.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2026, in the Ebright Funeral Home, Frankfort with Pastor Dan Bennett officiating. Following the service, Butch will be laid to rest with his wife, Brenda, in Brown's Chapel Cemetery, Clarksburg. Military Honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Those who wish to share a memory of Butch and sign his online register may do so at www.ebrightfuneralhome.com.
