Beatriz Eugenia Gomez Hernandez – affectionately known as "Tichi," Nana," or "Bea" – was born on August 26, 1934, and passed away peacefully at her home on July 17, 2025.
Born in Tubac, Arizona, to Evaristo and Encarnación Gomez, Beatriz was one of ten children raised in the family home that still stands today. Beatriz later moved to Nogales and eventually settled in Tucson, Arizona, where she devoted her life to raising her children and serving Jehovah. She was baptized on September 15, 1995 and lived with unwavering faith and devotion until the end of her life, She was preceded in death by her parents, seven of her nine siblings, and her husband, Paul Hernandez.
Beatriz was deeply cherished for her warmth, empathetic spirit, quiet strength, and infectious sense of humor. A gifted storyteller, she lived a life defined by kindness, faith, and forgiveness. Whether she was welcoming family and friends into her home, visiting family abroad, sharing a conversation over the phone, or writing letters, she truly treasured the moments spent with those she loved and was always their biggest supporter.
She found joy in knitting, gardening, cooking, watching U of A basketball, and especially in studying her Bible. Her family lovingly insists she made the best tamales and tortillas – a true testament to her nurturing heart.
Beatriz always dreamed of having her entire family gathered together, which was realized in 2024, when more than 200 members of the Gomez family reunited at the original Tubac home where she and her siblings were raised. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the event possible for our beloved Nanita. It was truly a special day – one where we saw her at her happiest.
Beatriz leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories in the hearts of her children: Anna, Margie, Rosalie (John), and Richard (Leticia); her grandchildren, Paul, Justin (Antornette), Vanessa, Anna (Khalil), Jesus "Chuy" (Ashley), Jaime (Jennifer), and Angelica; as well as her great-grandchild, the one and only Enzo!!!
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
P.S. Numbers 6:24-26
A memorial will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses (5462 S 6th Ave, Tucson, AZ), followed by a Celebration of Life at the Ramada by Wyndham (777 W Cushing St., Tucson, AZ). Her final resting place will be in Tubac, Arizona, a place she loved dearly and held close to her heart throughout her life.

Tia Tiche I will forever cherish our time together especially when you would come and stay with me and Celina during the dark days when my dad was batting cancer. Your stories truly got me through. I love you Tia Tichi and will forever miss you.

She loved all her family. My Nana loved her visitation. And she was so proud of her Angelica, attending her graduation party.
