Becky Jean (Ruterbories) Primus, age 62, of Sargent, Nebraska, passed away peacefully in her home at 9:16 p.m., Friday, October 10, 2025.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 17, 2025, at the Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow. Services will conclude in the chapel. Becky Jean was born on April 14, 1963, in Plainview, Nebraska, to Henry Ruterbories and Norma Ann Barns. She attended school in Plainview where she graduated from high school.
On May 23, 1981, Becky was united in marriage to David Duane Primus in a small church near Plainview. Becky joined ranch life with David at the Lowery Ranch north of Burwell, Nebraska until moving to Sargent in August of 1990.
Becky worked in dietary at the Sargent Hospital & Nursing Home for many years. She also provided childcare periodically between jobs. Becky worked as a cashier at the Gofer’s Gas Station while taking on the venture of purchasing the Middle Loup Store and expanding with the purchase of the old “Reier’s” building. It became the shop and central location for Primus Lawn Service & Repair that began with their three young children in 1991 with the neighbor’s yard and expanding from there to now.
Becky loved many hobbies and was never afraid to learn something new, she loved social life and cared about others above herself.
Becky is survived by her husband, David D. Primus of Sargent, NE; children, Crystal and Michael Horky of Kearney, NE, Laura and Frank Warta of Sargent, NE, Daniel D. Primus of Sargent, NE; grandchildren, Elija D. Conner, Bambi R. Conner (Warta) and Alyssa J. Warta; sisters, Kay and Andrew Friedman of Sioux Falls, SD, Ronda Larson of Gordon, NE, Jackie and Steve Mellon of Meadville, NE, Amy and David Walker of Quartzsite, AZ, Cheryl Mott of Flagstaff, AZ, Bille Lefebver of Lincoln, NE, Ana Goodin of Tucson, AZ and Mary and Eric Burchfield of Magnetic Springs, OH; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Gary, Joel, and Michael Ruterbories.
