Belinda Cicchini, 73
Belinda Cicchini, daughter of the late Sallie and Raymond Abernathy, Sr., was born on September 10, 1949 in Lewes, DE. She departed her life surrounded by her family on September 27, 2022 at Bayhealth Medical Center, Kent Campus, Dover, DE at the age of 73.
She received her former education at Richard Allen Elementary School and at William C. Jason High School, Georgetown, DE where she graduated in 1967. She was a member of the school band where she was a majorette. She retired from Kraft Heinz Company, Dover, DE in 2004 after thirty years of service as a Crew Leader in the warehouse.
She loved to go shopping, going out to eat, holiday gatherings, watching sports, cooking, and being outdoors planting flowers and doing landscaping in her yard. She really enjoyed jazz so she looked forward to going to the Rehoboth Jazz Festival each year. She enjoyed going on family vacations with her sister and brother Raymond, but she especially enjoyed our girl trips we did together with Modern Maturity Center. But most of all she loved being with her family. One of her favorite cleaning chores was to run the vacuum cleaner which she did several times a week. She used to tell me that she loved to see the lines in the carpet. I told her she had a vacuuming fetish issue going on. Trust me she loved it so much she has a full line of vacuum cleaners along with a shampooer to prove it. We had a lot in common, but this certainly was not one of them.
She was a member of the old Calvary Baptist Church that was located down at 410 Fulton Street, Dover, DE where she sang in the choir. She was preceded in death by her mother, Sallie Sturgis; father, Raymond Abernathy, Sr.; and half-sister, Helena Pratt.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband of twenty years Donald Cicchini, Clayton, DE; two brothers, Raymond Abernathy, Jr., Smyrna, DE, and Michael Abernathy, Milton, DE; one sister, Sandra Felton, Milton, DE; one son, Jeffrey Brummell (Kecia) Dover, DE; two aunts, Lois Wolford (George, deceased), Frankford, DE, and Carolyn Harmon (Gary) Georgetown, DE; one uncle, Samuel Young (Elsie, deceased) Milton, DE; three nieces, Natasha Sprattling (Derek) Clio, NC, Ratrina Harrison (Travis), Millsboro, DE, Kermethia Abernathy, Murfreesboro, NC; one grandson, Jemeir Brummell, Harrington, DE; and three great grandsons, Legacy, Zayden and Makai; and one very special cousin, Teresa Berry, Magnolia, DE; along with a host of other cousins and friends.
Our family's hearts are filled with sincere gratitude for the care given to Belinda Cicchini when she was at The Center at Eden Hill and during her stay at Bayhealth, Kent ICU unit. There are not enough words to express how thankful we are to ALL of the staff that helped her during this difficult journey in her life. May God Bless all of you!
