Belinda Ward was born in Newark, NJ on April 19, 1961, to the late David and late Shirley McHaney. Belinda was a lover of people and had a heart of compassion to help others. Her compassion for others led her to pursue her education as a dental assistant graduating from Drake College in Newark, NJ.
Not only did Belinda have a heart of great compassion, she was a hard worker, ready and eager to fix any and everything, as no task was too big or difficult. She was extremely determined which earned her the name "jack-of-all-trades." Belinda was a no-nonsense person, but she loved to laugh and was fun to be around, especially with children. She was a jokester and made everyone around her feel welcome.
Belinda married the late Mike Charles Ward and is survived by their three sons and two daughters, one son-in-law and one daughter-in-law: Charles Ward, Sheryl Ward, LaKeisha Nesbit (Thomas F. Nesbit), Antwan Ward (Naimah Ward), and Rashawn Ward. Her first son, Michael Trevon Powell, preceded her in death.
Belinda's love for her family and God was authentic and she carried them deeply in her heart, always. On Sunday, April 14, 2024, she peacefully transitioned into the arms of her beloved Jesus leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion that will be deeply cherished by her siblings: Barbara Jean Story, Gary Powell (sister-in-law Rochelle Powell), the late David Powell, Sharon Parsons and Stanley McHaney; her grandchildren: Ra'zonah Raji, Jarrod Rahman Ward, Daniel Legend Larkin, Dashawn Ward, Farrah Nesbit, Victoria Nesbit, Dejah Johnson, Trinity Moore, Ja'Vonte Treyvon Ward, Imani May, London Ward, Paris Ward, Tyler Ward, Hannah Ward, and Carter Ward; her great grandchildren: Kayden Malcolm Colon Ward, Kamiya Melody Colon Ward, and Bless Raji; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family, and countless friends.
