Ben Wadsworth Obituary
Ben, was raised in Barstow and was the only child of Ben A. Wadsworth and Luteva Rishel Wadsworth Pierce.
Ben dedicated his life to serving others. He served in the National Guard, was a Kiwanian, Mason and a teacher at Lincoln High School (LHS) for 41 years.
While at LHS, Ben served as 9th grade class sponsor; co-sponsor of class of 1973; student government advisor; active in LAADA (Los Angeles Association of Directors of Activities); Student Activities Director; Key Club/Keywanettes Club Faculty Advisor; Kiwanis Region 6 Sponsored Youth Regional Advisor; LHS Cheer Advisor/Coach; School Advisory Council member; School Site Council and member of the Lincoln Legislature.
Although officially retired from LHS he continued to remain active in his community by volunteering for various community projects and organizations. He continued to be the Cheer Advisor Emeritus for the LHS JV, Varsity and Competition Squads, served as Vice President for the Lincoln Heights Neighborhood Council and was VP of the Lincoln Heights Dollars for Scholars Chapter of Scholarship America, where he was also a founding member.
Ben's students were his adopted children and family. He was a selfless, loving and giving individual. He impacted many lives with his mentorship and friendship. His legacy of service to others will continue by leaving an endowment for scholarships for Lincoln Heights students.
Services will be held at Forest Lawn Glendale on 10/28/23 with a visitation and viewing commencing at 11am and a service at the Wee Kirk o' the Heather chapel at 2pm.
The graveside burial will be on 11/3/23 at Mountain View Memorial Park in Barstow at 11 am.
