Ben Walz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Freeman Mortuary - Jefferson City on Apr. 22, 2025.
Mr. Benjamin Milo Walz, age 29, of Jefferson City, Mo. passed away Sunday, April 20, 2025, at home after struggling with mental health challenges.
Ben was born on February 16, 1996, in Jefferson City, Mo., a son of Robert Lee Walz, Jr. and Victoria Mae (Steen) Walz.
A lifelong resident of central Missouri, Ben graduated from Jefferson City High School. He worked at Little Caesars Pizza and was most recently employed as a chef at Applebee's Restaurant, where he enjoyed being part of the team.
Ben had a deep love for music, especially the heavy sounds of Slipknot. He never passed up a road trip to see a concert or music festival with his brothers with those adventures being some of his favorite memories. Growing up, Ben enjoyed the thrill of amusement parks and never got tired of a good horror movie.
Whether on the road, at a concert, or cracking a quiet joke, Ben brought a unique energy that made life more fun for the people around him. His dry, sarcastic sense of humor had a way of catching people off guard and making them laugh, especially his friends who knew his ornery side best.
Survivors include: two brothers, Robert Lee "Trey" Walz, III (Madison) of Jefferson City, Mo. and Kaleb Burgess (Sheena) of Lowry City, Mo.; his mother, Victoria "Vicki" Steen of Gladstone, Mo.; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and his beloved pets, Gohan, Icarus and Shadow.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rob Walz; his paternal grandparents, Robert and Claudia Walz; maternal grandmother, Fervee Steen; and an uncle, Doug Steen.
A private memorial service will be held in the Freeman Chapel to honor Ben's life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Ben Walz Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 95, Jefferson City, Mo. 65102.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of Freeman Mortuary, 915 Madison St, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
