Benedita D. Anchondo, age 88, of Balmorhea, Texas, peacefully passed away on June 26, 2025. She was a beloved member of the community and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Pecos Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM at Christ the King Catholic Church in Balmorhea.
Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 10:00 AM, also at Christ the King Catholic Church in Brogado, Texas. Following the service, burial will occur at Balmorhea Cemetery.
Benedita was born on November 15, 1936, in Balmorhea, Texas, to Louis and Herminia Dutchover. She was united in marriage to Abelardo C. Anchondo and together they created a loving family. Benedita dedicated 20 years of her life working for Balmorhea Independent School District, where she left a lasting impact on many students and faculty.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Abelardo C. Anchondo; her daughter, Maria Isabel A. Jurado; and her parents, Louis and Herminia Dutchover.
Benedita is survived by her sons, Angel and his wife Nancy Dutchover, Abel Anchondo, Demetrio Anchondo, and Eddie and his wife Marisa Anchondo. She is also cherished by her four brothers, four sisters, 22 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers honored to carry her to her final resting place include Domingo Armendariz, David Lujan III, Marcos Ramos, Angel Jr. III Anchondo, Cody Anchondo, and Trena Jurado.
