Benjamin Alan Borowsky, age 93, of Boynton Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. Born in Brooklyn, NY on November 17, 1930, he lived in Pennsylvania and New Jersey before moving to Florida 30 years ago. Ben attended the University of Wisconsin and served in the Army during the Korean War. He had a long and fulfilling career as a sports journalist, newspaper editor, and entertainment critic. In the mid 1970's he joined New Jersey Governor Brendan Byrne's staff, first serving as his press secretary and then as the communication officer for the newly formed Casino Control Commission. In the mid 80's he started a newsletter, Casino Chronicle which he published for more than 30 years.
Ben met the love of his life, Joan Polsky, in 1957. After a whirlwind romance they became engaged and married a few months later. They shared many passions together, family, sports, Judiasm, politics, current events and community betterment. They were happily married and devoted to each other for 65 years until Joan passed away in 2022. Ben will be lovingly remembered by his daughters and sons-in-law: Alice Borowsky (Joseph Donohue), Debbie (Ken) Baron, and Beth Borowsky (Rusty Johnson); grandchildren, Marni (Adam) Hamberg, Nicole (Ben) Baevsky, Zack (Lorren) Donohue, Jake Donohue, Rachel Donohue, Max Johnson, and Sam Johnson; and great-grandchildren, Ethan Hamberg, Ari Hamberg, Leo Donohue and Maisie Baevsky.
A funeral service will be held at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel (Delray Location) at 12:15pm, on Friday, May 3, 2024. Entombment will follow at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
