This post is a trubite to my step son Staff Sgt. Benjamin D Williams who was killed in action 6years ago today. Ben love this country he love being a Marine He believe it was what he was born for and was willing to laid down His life for this country.
We miss him very much but we are very proud of him and what he believe in. It also reminds me that my freedom comes with a great price and it doesnt matter how I feel about war I need to support my troops because these men and women are out there everyday on the line willing to defend my freedom.
June 19, 2012
Bubba, it will be 6 years tomorrow that you were taken away from us. The only thing that makes it tolerable is knowing you were doing what you loved so much. I remember like it was yesterday when you told me you had to go back to Iraq that third time because your squad depended on you. Your dedication, leadership, loyalty, honor, and integrity defines who were, and establishes goals for those left behind to reach towards. I miss you every day. Your love of your country and your tremendous sacrifice will never be forgotten. You will always live in my heart.
Love always,
Dad

Ben,
I got a text from my friend today. She told me that they will honor you this Friday at Mauriceville school veterans day celebration. It got me thinking about you all day. Remembering what a great person you were and how much character you had. How you always treated people with respect and made them feel welcome. No matter what the group said if you didn't think it was right you didn't follow the group but, you lead by example and did what you believed was right. That was truly a leadership quality. Even though we didn't see each other often. The times we were around each other you showed those qualities and it made a big impact. I miss seeing you down at paw paws when you would come in and I am very glad that I was able to visit you the last trip you made down there. I am glad I got to communicate with you through email while you were on the ship and wish I still had all those messages we would send back and forth. I was watching some home videos recently of us all when we were younger and it made me smile and very greatful that you were in my life. I can't believe it has been so long time seems to fly by. I am very thankful for the sacrifice you made for your country and I am glad the school will honor you this friday.

Hello Handsome! I have been so busy lately that I have not took the time to write in your book. Mom and I spent the weekend before the 20th at Camp Hope. It was a very nice weekend and to be able to spend it with some of the guys from the old unit made it even better! Never fails that the stories from your time together come up. We laughed a lot, well I laughed a lot - especially when they told tales about how they were afraid of you!! Made me smile, laugh out loud really - if they only knew....But it was a great time. It was good to be able to share that time with the guys and parents of other men. I have an incredible support system but to be with so many that knew my pain, my loss, well it just made things seem less intense. Plans are underway for next years reunion and I can't wait. I hope that more of the guys will be there for next years event! Maybe then someone can take my "You're the worse horseshoe player EVER" title. I miss you dollface! Mom and I are starting plans for a poker run in honor of you. All of the proceeds will go to benefit Camp Hope. I wish you could see it - the place is incredible! I hope that the poker run will be a huge success and keep Mom really busy :)!!! I will write you soon. I love you and miss you like crazy!

Bubba, I thought of you today. I was going threw old picture's, and came across some of you. You were very young, but those are the memories I hold closest to me. When I tell someone about you it makes me sick to my stomach! I will hold in my heart the last time I saw you. It was at your Dad's funeral. You saw me but I didn't see you. You came up to me and you were wearing glasses,I had not seen you in so many year's, but you hugged me and said "I knew you would be here". I remember telling Meagan what a good looking man you had turned out to be. One day there is going to be a reunion in Heaven!! What a wonderful day that will. Love, Aunt Peggy

Hello My Love. Tomorrow would have been your birthday. It is starting to be a difficult day for me alredy - only because I miss you so much. I know I should be so thankful for the 30 wonderful years that I shared life with you, AND I AM PLEASE BELIEVE ME. I should be thinking of some awesome story that I can share with my children. I should be planning random acts of kindness to be done in your honor for tomorrow. I am not, in fact I really am having a hard time pulling myself together at all. Maybe it's because right now I really just want to be by myself with your memory. I feel so broken without you. I really believed people when they would tell me that time would heal my pain - I'm still waiting....Loosing you didn't just break my heart - You took part of it with you when you left. I took a stroll down memory lane tonight. Looking through the pictures of you. Some made me laugh, especially the one's of us dancing...geez I don't think I know 2 more whiter people lol. Some made me proud and still others made the tears flow almost uncontrolably. I love that we were so close and share so many great memories. But what would I give to talk to you now. Just to hear your voice. So tonight I will continue to reflect of you and your life, what it meant and how many peoples life you touched. You are really amazing Ben - you were the best friend, brother, son, neighbor, leader, inspiration....Your life was truly a beacon. Tomorrow to honor you for your birthday, I will celebrate your life. Keeping the tradition of kindness day that we started several years ago. Hoping that I can share the same tenderness and kindness that you exampled. But most of all I will find some reason to smile (the kind of smile where you can see my dimples), because you taught me many things in life - most importantly laugh and have fun!!! Maybe I will tell your dumb knock knock jokes to everyone I see tomorrow...haha Now woouldn't that be a funny thing to look down on me doing! I love you bub and I miss you like crazy.

I was so honored to have known Bubba,he was such a sweet boy. When he was little he would get up run over to mine and Jay's house and say"Aunt Peggy, will you make me eggs"!! And ask for black coffee thinking his hair would turn black like his Daddy's. I don't know who told him that. But most of all he always had me a hug and never failed to say, "I love you".God be with Jennifer and her Mother. What a sacrifice he made for our country!

Wow, I'm not sure even where to start. As I was talking with the kids this week about Veterns Day and what it means, we started talking and laughing about all of the funny memories we had of you. They were so little when they knew you they mostly only remember the stories that I have told them, but it make me smile anyways. There are so many things that I miss about you. I miss your smile, the way my name sounds when you say it, the way that only you could justify ANYTHING and make whatever was going on seem like nothing. I miss the countless stories of the guys and your endless pranks. Those many hours spent on the phone because you were too far away. I miss your humor - even though it was usually twisted! There are so many things I miss, I could keep going on and on. More than anything, I just miss my friend. I love you Ben. I will never forget the sacrifice that you have made for the country that you so dearly loved. I will continue to carry on your memories with my children and friends. BTW, Olivia loves the fact that she is just like you. You are my hero Ben.

Sweet Bubba, I saw your picture and name in the orange leader yesterday. They set up a nonprofit scholarship fund in your name to help young men and women wishing to go to college. I googled your name and found this guest book. I read all the beautiful thoughts, comments, and memories of people who knew you and those who prayed for our great loss. I was thinking of the last time you came to visit pawpaw williams and the great time we had shooting skeets in the back forty. I remembered the story you were telling pawpaw about riding a camel and the smile that came over your face with those big blue eyes smiling mischeviously. then you went on to tell another story when you rounding a building staring eye to eye with the biggest bull you ever saw and running faster than you ever ran before. You saying, "pawpaw I ran as fast as the wind." It was the most I ever heard you talk, you were always such a quiet boy, Jen usually did most of the talking. We speak your name often and miss those pretty dimples when you smiled. I know your soul bask in the sunlight of the Lord and your enjoying all the precious pleasures of heaven. Your 34th birthday is in just a few days, I remember the day you were born and when your mom and dad brought you home. Baby sitting you and Jeniffer for your Mom when she worked at Goodrich. Linda was a great mother and watching her raise ya'll impressed me enough that I practiced some of the same skills that she did with my own children. Thank you Linda for being an inspiration to me at such a young age, I practiced a lot of the principles you raise Jen and Bubba by. Bubba will always be remembered and loved. Well Bubba its been three years today that you died defending the things we cherish so much. I find that time doesn't stop the pain of losing you and nothing fills the emptiness of your being gone. You and all those lost in the freeing of Iraq did an excellent job and made this nation proud. You should walk the golden street of Heaven with your head held high. No one needs to apoligize for what you and the others heroes have accomplished.

“God of our fathers, who by land and sea have ever lead us to victory, please continue your inspiring guidance in this the greatest of all conflicts. Strengthen my soul so that the weakening instinct of self-preservation, which besets all of us in battle, shall not blind me to my duty to my own manhood, to the glory of my calling, and to my responsibility to my fellow soldiers. Grant to our armed forces that disciplined valor and mutual confidence which insures success in war. Let me not mourn for the men who have died fighting, but rather let me be glad that such heroes have lived. If it be my lot to die, let me do so with courage and honor in a manner which will bring the greatest harm to the enemy, and please, oh Lord, protect and guide those I shall leave behind. Give us the victory, Lord.”

I too am a Gold Star Dad having lost Blake on 15-March 2007 so I can truthfully say "I know what you are going through." My heart goes out to your family because I know your grief. There is nothing like it. Our sons now stand together as only true comrades can do. Your family is in our prayers and through the Patroit Guard Riders, Ben will always be remembered as a true American hero too.
I can't say that the hurt gets any easier to deal with, but I know you can learn to deal with the hurt. My sincere hope is that like us you don't have to say you have seen and held your son for the last time. I know Blake is standing guard at the Pearly Gates and I hope Steve was there to welcome Blake home.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Happy Birthday Ben...We know you are smiling down on us with your big ole dimples and them big ole arms open wide...Hugs and Kisses From your Family in Texas"

On behalf of the Gold Star Dads of America and American Patriots everywhere, we would like to send our condolences for the loss of your son Benjamin. As an ex-Marine and a fellow Gold Star Father I know the pain and emptiness you feel. I also know the pride that wells up inside you, and rightly so.
Your son died as a hero and a patriot, as did my son Rhys. These young men and thousands of others like them will continue to show this country, yes, even the World that we will not stand idly by while watching our World become a place of evil.
Benjamin’ mission here on earth is done and I pray that God has a special place for him.
My family will continue to lift up yours in prayer asking God to comfort and encourage your hearts. We will continue to ask God to put his hedge of protection around the American soldiers and the Coalition forces and to bring wisdom to our leaders and the new leaders of a Free Iraq.
If there is anything that we can do for you or your family, Please don't hesitate to ask.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!
