Benjamin Eckroth Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, LLC - Pottstown on Jan. 15, 2026.
Benjamin F. Eckroth, III, 65, of Pottstown, husband of Theresa E. (Mentzer) Eckroth, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, January 12, 2026, surrounded by family.

Born on February 21, 1960 in Boynton Beach, FL, he was the son of Carol J. (Griesel) Eckroth and the late Benjamin F. Eckroth, Jr.

Ben was a graduate of Pottstown High School (Class of 1978). After graduation, he continued his education by becoming a carpenter by trade in the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America in Philadelphia. In 1988, Ben established his own business, Benjamin Eckroth Remodeling, specializing in general carpentry and residential remodeling.

Ben was a passionate Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan and a long-time supporter of Pottstown youth sports programs. Ben loved skiing, playing golf and enjoyed spending time with friends at local establishments such as Frankie & Johnnies', Twin Ponds Golf Course, Pottstown Elks #814 and the East End Athletic Club.

Family was most important to Ben. He built a beautiful home in North Coventry where he and Terry hosted countless family gatherings and holiday parties. Ben loved spending time with his family at the shore each summer and he especially loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events.

Ben's kindness, wit and generosity to his family, friends and customers touched many lives. He will be remembered for the strong relationships he fostered, his vibrant energy and fun-loving nature.

Surviving along with his wife and mother are his daughters Lisa Yost, wife of Ken, and Kelly Trifelitti, wife of Ryan; son Benjamin D. Eckroth, husband of Kasey; grandchildren Kylie, Wyatt, Nora, Olivia, and Amelia; and sister Tina E. Ludy, wife of Bill.

A memorial service will be held Monday January 19, 2026 at 11:45 AM at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, LLC., 711 N. Franklin St., Pottstown, PA 19464. Visitation will be held Monday from 9:00-11:30 AM at the funeral home.

"Benny" (as we called him) was a great guy and a great kid growing up in the neighborhood. I lived a few blocks down and around the corner when growing up.
When we were kids (probably pre-teens), I remember Benny telling one particular stupid joke. It was bad but, the way he told it, it was really funny. It is seared into my memory.
I am so sorry to hear of his passing. My condolences go out to his sister, Tina (another kid from the neighborhood).
