Benjamin Larry McCombs

Larry McCombs, 78, of Dallas, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville. He was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina to the late Bud McCombs and Mary Ruth Cagle McCombs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Robert McCombs, JC McCombs, and Faye Aiken. Larry proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, during the Vietnam War where he was awarded two Purple Hearts. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends, whom he dearly loved. Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Tammy Moore (Mark), and Kim McAndrew; his son, Paul Blair; grandchildren, Stacy Helms, Darrin Hudson, Brittany Morton, Kristen Biggerstaff, Destiny Moore, and Jordan Moore; great grandchildren, Brianna, Blayden, Devon, Payton, Braylee, Eli, Tripp, and Hayes; his siblings, Mary Sue Lewis, Janet Wood (John), and Doris Hester; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as close friends Lisa James Raines and Tim McAndrew. The family will greet guests from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 21, 2023 at Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly. A service to celebrate Larry's life will be held immediately following, also at the funeral home. Interment will conclude at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery, Mount Holly.
