McCord, Elliott McCord and Case McCord; siblings, L. Sheridan McCord and Kimball Lee McCord. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Lillian McCord.
Ben was born in Nebraska, the eldest of three brothers of Lloyd and LaVaun McCord. Ben naturally assumed the role of a guardian in life. To his brothers early in life, then progressing to his wife and family: He was a loyal defender. Ben married in 1970 and remained married for 54 years to the love of his life, Jane: His 'Brown-eyed-girl.' Ben was a pipefitter by trade. He was a modest man who loved God, his wife and his family. He put God and his family above all else. His 13 grandchildren brought him great joy as well. Ben enjoyed freedom and the great outdoors. He was a true patriot at heart; a man who loved his country fervently.
Being blessed with an excellent mind, Ben was a brilliant teacher and an avid reader. His family was blessed to have a husband, dad, grandfather, and brother who knew seemingly everything, could fix anything, and generously invested his expansive knowledge and wisdom in those closest to him. He loved to whistle, laugh and make others laugh with his quick wit, myriads of voice imitations, and comical stories.
His work led him to Nebraska, Texas, Wyoming, Utah and Iowa. Ben loved the mountains and outdoor activities. He took care of hundreds of hummingbirds each summer. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and enjoying the simplicity and grandeur of God's creation. Ben was a Bible scholar who spent much of his time and intellectual energy studying Scripture to know God and His ways. He trusted God as his Savior, provider, healer, and friend.
Please join Ben's family in celebrating his life. Our greatest desire is that his passing may glorify God, and light the path for others to receive salvation.
