Edward "Ed" Dale Miles, 68, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away Monday, February 9, 2026, in Indianola, Iowa. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, February 19, 2026 at Faith Independent Assembly of God Church, 6001 SW 14th Street, Des Moines, IA 50315. Family will greet friends one hour prior at the church. Burial will follow services at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines, Iowa.

Ed was born on August 13, 1957, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Barbara Brenneman Miles and William Miles. He lived in Des Moines until 1970, when the family moved to Diamondhead Lake. He attended Stuart Menlo School and later received his GED from Stuart-Menlo High School in 1978. On May 13, 1983, he married Helen Stepp Frazier, the love of his life and wife of 42 years, and became a devoted stepfather to Douglas Frazier. On March 13, 1981, Ed and Helen welcomed their daughter, Opal Ruth Miles, completing their family.

Ed was a kind and selfless man with a heart of gold. He was the first to help anyone in need and never met a stranger. A true jack of all trades, Ed believed he could fix anything and always found a way to make things work. He was a devoted man of God whose faith guided his life. Ed faithfully served the Lord through mission work, helping feed the homeless and supporting ministries such as Taking It to the Streets and other charitable causes.

Ed was also a man of quiet strength and resilience. No matter what challenges life placed before him, he faced them with courage and never complained. He carried his burdens with grace and remained a steady source of love and support for his family. His strength, faith, and perseverance were an example to everyone who knew him.

His family meant everything to him. He was a guiding light for his sisters, Lillian and Bobbi Jo, and a proud and loving father and grandfather. Ed especially cherished his great-grandchildren, who were truly the apple of his eye. Nothing brought him more joy than seeing their smiles, hearing their laughter, and watching them grow.

One of the most treasured traditions he shared with his grandchildren was attending church camp every year. These trips created lifelong memories filled with faith, laughter, and togetherness. Those moments reflected his deep love for God and his desire to pass down his faith and values to future generations.

Ed also enjoyed collecting coins, attending race car events with his daughter and family, and cheering on his beloved Kansas City Chiefs.

Ed is survived by his loving wife, Helen Miles; his daughter, Opal Ruth (Brandon) Hobbs; his step-son, Douglas Frazier; his grandchildren, Jasmine Smyth, Jordan Smyth, Jacob Frazier, and Jade Frazier; his great-grandchildren, Kalani, Gianna, Malaki, Dallas, Sebastian, and Silas; his sisters, Lillian (Richard) Grimes and Bobbi Jo Esterbrook; and his nieces, Ashley Grimes and Heather Esterbrook.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Brenneman Miles; his father, William Miles; and his mother-in-law, Opal Stephenson.

Ed will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his resilience, his generous heart, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched, the faith he shared, and the family he loved so dearly.
