Mary Miles Obituary
Alton - Mary Joanne Miles, 67, died at 7:07 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at her home in Alton. Born August 28, 1958 in Alton, she was the daughter of Betty Jean (Williamson) Mugge of Alton and the late George Harold Mugge. Mary was a cook for the Alton School District for 40 years. She married John A. Miles, and they were married for 35 years. He survives. Along with her mother and husband, she is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Laird (Sam Maddux) of Alton, a sister, Martha E. Stamper (Kenneth) of Roxana, and two brothers, David C. Mugge (Paula) of Alton and Paul T. Mugge (Gail) of Alton as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her father she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles L. Mugge and George E. Mugge. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 29, 2026 at Gent Funeral Home where funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 30, 2026. Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the 5A's Animal Shelter. Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
