Benjamin Franklin Meek Jr., affectionately known as Ben, was born on August 10, 1959, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Benjamin Franklin Meek Sr. of Denison, Texas and Peggy Eve Newsome Cheek of Kopperl, Texas. He was blessed with a loving stepmother, Myra Ann Meek, and stepfather, Orvid Raymond Cheek.

A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Ben lived his life grounded in his Christian faith. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, cherishing every moment spent with his beloved grandchildren.

As a Master Carpenter and skilled craftsman, Ben had a passion for woodworking, refurbishing old knives, and leatherwork. He enjoyed the great outdoors, fishing, his love of music and his wife’s chickens—they were really his and she just kept bringing more home.

Ben was preceded in death by his parents, step-parents, Aunt Barbara Bishop, Uncle Walter Warren Meek, cousin Shirley, and many other cherished relatives.

He is survived by his wife, Diana Meek; children, Elaina Wilkerson and husband Severiano Arciniaga, Peggy Sweet, Ethan Rains and wife Mindy, and Mary Ann Meek; and grandchildren, Alex Arciniaga, Calibur Rains, Zaylee Rains, Landen Rains, and Ember Ramsey.

Ben is also survived by his siblings: Calvin Meek and wife Jessica, Brian Meek and wife Kay, Billie Faye Demour and husband David, Michael Cary, Robby Meek and wife Stacy, Michelle Tatum and husband Darren, and Ray Cheek and wife, Cheryl Harris and husband Melvin, along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, under the compassionate care of Lutheran Sunset Hospice.

In honor of Ben’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held at Lake Whitney on April 4, 2026. Join us for a day of fun, fishing, swimming, and grilling by Joey Meek, as we remember a wonderful man who touched so many lives.
