Benjamin John Munson

Benjamin was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Barry D. Munson and Annette (Cassady) Munson on a Friday night while the family was attending the Circus.
That fact set the stage for a life of fun and adventure. He was a very fun-loving boy and a loving brother to his sister, Shelly (Munson) Hyatt.
As he grew, he loved baseball, bikes, rollerblades, and fishing. He grew up fishing on Lake Erie with his dad and grandfather. The young family spent time in different states, and a big part of his childhood was exploring the local wildlife and streams with his sister. He became a great float fisherman over the past years on the Chagrin River. He loved to smoke meat and had fun in the kitchen. He was a diesel generator mechanic and had worked for Caterpillar and Buckeye Power Systems.
He was the best kind of friend. He saw the good in everyone, and the world has lost a true human being. We, as his family, are devastated. It is beyond words.
According to his daughter, Kylar, "his artistic mastermind and eclectic music taste greatly contributed to his silly nature."
From The Grateful Dead to Bob Marley to Tyler Childers to Rap, he listened to all of it.
To this earth, he gave two beautiful children, Kylar Ann Munson and Jacob Ryan Munson, who truly make the world a better place.
He is survived by his father and mother Barry and Annette (Cassady) Munson; his sister Shelly (Thomas) Hyatt, niece Rowan McNulty, and nephews Logan and Brennan McNulty and Keiran Hyatt; his children Kylar Ann Munson (Grace Buchanan) and Jacob Ryan Munson; his grandmother Gloria Munson; many uncles, aunts, and cousins; his partner Brittany Leber; and of course, his canine girls Vera and Gracie Lou Sugafoot.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Lamont Munson, and maternal grandparents, Samuel and Daisy (Pemberton) Cassady.
Calling hours will be on Saturday May 10, 2025, from 11:00-2:00 at Sly Family Funeral Home. 15670 W. High Street. Middlefield, Ohio with the service immediately following at 2:00 with Father Jacob Bearer officiating.
