Benjamin Todd Osterman
July 27, 1990 - September 24, 2025
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the untimely passing of Benjamin Todd Osterman, a beloved son, brother, grandson and friend, who left us on September 24, 2025, at the age of 35. Ben was born on July 27, 1990, to his loving parents, Debbie and Monte, who cherished him deeply from the moment he entered their lives.
Ben graduated from South Milwaukee High School and attended UW Milwaukee. He lived a life full of adventure and creativity, marked by his infectious humor and unwavering loyalty to those he loved. He was a devoted son, brother and grandson to his family who will carry forward the memories of his laughter and the warmth of his spirit. Ben was preceded in death by his beloved Mamaw Doris Osterman, his Grampa and Grama Jim and Maryann Wallace and his faithful dog, Jax, all of whom hold a special place in the hearts of his family. Ben leaves precious memories for his parents, Debbie Wallace and Monte and Mary Osterman, siblings Jim (Nicole), Joe (Claire), Tommy (Avery) Osterman, Emily (Justin) Brands, Papaw Joe Osterman, Great Aunt June Acheson, Uncles Mardy (Dee) and Merrill (Melissa) Osterman, cousins, a niece and a nephew.
A true artist and craftsman, Ben dedicated himself to the field of construction, where he not only built structures but also lasting relationships with his colleagues and clients. His hands were skilled, and his creativity shone through in every project he undertook including rebuilding the cottage decks, boat docks, even re-siding and re-roofing the cottages.
Outside of work, Ben was a man of many passions. He found solace in nature and was a lover of all animals. Ben was a master scuba diver; he felt equally at home diving the Chain O' Lakes in Waupaca as he did Lake Michigan or around the Caribbean Island of Bon Aire. He reveled in the thrill of riding motorcycles; Ben rode his bike everywhere, sometimes with purpose but often just to unwind. He enjoyed spending time at the cottages and was a fixture of Camp Cleghorn where he was very involved and loved by all. Ben was a skilled potter and ceramicist, crafting beautiful pieces that reflected his unique perspective on life, these can be found throughout the homes of those who love him. Ben was a talented musician who enjoyed playing the bass, guitar, and piano. His adventurous spirit and creative mind left a mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Ben's outgoing personality made him a friend to many; even the squirrels, turtles, and an abandoned litter of baby racoons. He had a rare gift for making people laugh, bringing joy to even the darkest of days. His loving nature and ability to connect with others will be remembered by all who crossed his path. He truly was a bright light, a person whose kindness and compassion knew no bounds.
Ben Osterman's legacy will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who loved him. May he be at peace, knowing that he will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
A celebration of Ben's life will take place at the Humboldt Park Pavilion, 3000 S. Howell Ave. in Milwaukee's Bay View neighborhood, 53207, on October 26, 2025, with visitation and light refreshments from 1-2:30 pm, followed by memorial services at 2:30 pm. Friends and family are invited to join together to honor the remarkable life Ben lived, sharing stories, laughter, and tears as we remember a man who touched so many lives.
Expressions of sympathy are requested to take the form of donations to the Waupaca Chain 'O Lakes Association in Ben's honor. Their mission is to preserve the lakes and shoreline that Ben so deeply loved. https://www.waupacachainolakesassociation

He was a kind to everyone. His loud, infectious laugh is clear in my memory along with all of our fun nights growing up in SM. We shared a same taste in music and other similarities kept us a close group.

I´ll always admire his artistic skill, particularly with clay. He made some of the coolest pieces and proudly stood by them when teachers and others would comment on his craftsmanship.

I´ll remember our long walks in the woods shared with friends, hangouts in his garage, fires at the beach all night long and his ability to keep us laughing.

Cheers to you Benjamin "Toad" Osterman. You were one in a billion and I am forever grateful for our years and memories together.
