Benjamin Rodriguez Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc. on Feb. 27, 2026.
Benjamin ''Ben'' Rodriguez passed away surrounded by the love of his family, leaving behind a legacy carried in the hearts of all who knew him.

Born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, to Hortencia and Manuel Rodriguez, Ben later made his home in Brooklyn before enjoying retirement in Staten Island. A proud veteran of the United States Army, he served his country with honor before dedicating many years to the MTA, beginning as a conductor and later working as a flagman.

For 56 years, he was the devoted husband to Sandra. Together they built a life rooted in commitment, resilience, and enduring love. He was a father to Benjamin Jr. (predeceased), Christopher (predeceased),

Christian (Alicia), and Bryan Rodriguez. He was a beloved Pop Pop to Marcello (Melissa) and a cherished grandfather figure to Xander. He was also a loving brother to Louis, Sigfrido, and Miriam, and a treasured uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Ben was known for his loving presence, his warm welcome, and his genuine laugh that filled a room. He loved the New York Mets, found joy in Latin music, and could glide across a dance floor with effortless rhythm. His home was always open - a place where family and friends gathered, celebrated, and felt embraced.

He will be remembered not only for what he did, but for how he made people feel: steady, safe, and deeply loved.
