Raffaele R Cugno, age 93, passed away peacefully Saturday February 14, 2026, in the loving hands of his daughter. Ralph was born and raised in Soho, New York City before moving to Staten Island and settling in Great Kills throughout his life.

Ralph was born to Domenico and Michelina Cugno in New York City. He graduated from Brooklyn Automotive High School and later earned an Associates Degree from New York City Community College.

Ralph worked for the State of New York in the department of Occupational

Safety and Health through his career and retired in 1996.

Ralph served in the US Army during the and was stationed with the 101st Airborne Division. He received the Korean Service Medal with a Bronze Service Star, A United Nations Service Medal, a National Defense Service Medal and the Presidential Unit citation ROK DAGO 24 31 MAR 54.

A devout Catholic, Ralph was a parishioner of St. Clare's Catholic Church where he served as an usher at the 11:30 mass weekly for over 25 years. He was an easy-going humble man who was caring and devoted to his family and friends. He loved sports, especially boxing and was a

Golden Gloves boxer and trainer. He spent the summers swimming at the Great Kills Swim Club and loved walking and sunning at Gateway Park.

Ralph is survived by his daughter Denice Schnaak, his grandchildren Kristen DeCarlo, Jake Schnaak, and Benjamin Schnaak, his brother Anthony Cugno, and his girlfriend and companion Kathy Fortino.

A Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc. located at 28 Eltingville Blvd Staten Island, New York 10312. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, 361 Sharrott Avenue, Staten Island, NY.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York.
