Mr. Benjamin Simmonds of the Tanglewood Community and a Flint, Michigan native was pronounced deceased from natural causes at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center at 4:35 p.m. Thursday afternoon November 16, 2023 where he was admitted November 2nd.
Mr. Simmonds was at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home and was scheduled to be cremated at the Cumberland Family Services in Algood. No services have been scheduled at this time.
The son of Michael Allen Simmonds of Flint, Michigan, he was born Benjamin Michael Simmonds in Flint in Genesee County, Michigan on May 31, 1989.
Mr. Simmonds was a 2007 graduate of Gulf Coast High School in Naples. Florida and was certified as a Master Barber following graduation from barber college.
His maternal grandfather, Glenn William Smithwick preceded him in death on December 4, 2018 at the age of 71.
He relocated to Smith County in 2020 from Flushing, Michigan.
Having never married, he is survived in addition to his father, by his fiancée Ashley McKinney; two sisters, Danielle Hildebrand of Naples, Florida, Michaela Simmonds of Flint, Michigan; two nieces, Ja'Nille and Sloane and nephew, Atlas; maternal grandmother, Margaret Smithwick of Flushing, Michigan; paternal grandmother, Betsy Carter of Flint, Michigan; paternal grandfather, Pat Simmonds of Grand Blank, Michigan; former step-father who reared him as a son, Jerry Hildebrand of Naples, Florida.
