Benjamin J. Sternisha, 41, died unexpectedly January 4, 2021, at his parents' home in Punta Gorda, Florida. He was born January 14, 1980, at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk, New York, the son of Jack and Marcy Sternisha.
Ben graduated from Fredonia High School, Class of 1998. Following graduation, Ben went on to Jamestown Community College and then attended Fredonia State University. After college, Ben moved to Buffalo to work as a loan processor at HSBC bank. Later he moved to Raleigh, North Carolina and continued working in the banking industry. Ben was living in Florida at the time of his death.
Ben was an avid writer and editor who loved to read, blog, and critique movies. He was a huge Buffalo Bills and Sabres fan and excelled at fantasy sports. Ben was extremely kind, generous, and accepting. He had a way of putting everyone at ease and making them laugh. He loved his family and his three nieces dearly. Ben was a remarkable son, brother, and uncle and will be missed dearly.
Ben is predeceased by grandparents Charles & Evelyn Sternisha and J. Harold & Pauline Brancke, as well as many aunts and uncles. Ben is survived by parents Jack and Marcella (Brancke) Sternisha, siblings C.J. (Lauri) Sternisha, Amanda Sternisha, and Emily (Devon) McTavish as well as nieces Molly, Piper, and Madelyn.
A service of remembrance will be held on Friday, February 18 at 2 PM at Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home, 9400 Indian Springs Cemetery, Punta Gorda, Florida. The Sternishas will host a gathering to celebrate Ben's life from 3-5 PM after the service at The Blue Heron Pines Community Center, 29200 Jones Loop Road, Punta Gorda, Florida 33950. Those who wish to honor Ben in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the literacy program or charity of your choice.
