Benjamin Paul Wilfer Eau Claire - Benjamin Paul Wilfer, age 33, of
Eau Claire, Wisconsin passed away Sunday, June 11, 2023.
Ben was born September 30, 1989, to Paul and Betsy Wilfer. He grew up in
Appleton, Wisconsin attending Appleton Public Schools and graduating from Appleton East High School in 2008. After high school Ben went on to secondary education at UW-Stout where he graduated in 2012.
During his time at UW-Stout Ben met his parenting partner, Erica Wilfer. Together they began their family with the birth of their son Wesley in 2010, followed by their daughter Stella in 2014 and their son Miles in 2016. Ben's children were the light of his life and being their Dad was his greatest joy. Whether he was snowboarding, skating, mixing music, building blanket forts, carrying his children and nieces on his shoulders, drawing, painting, or dancing; Ben was always living in the moment, having fun, and making memories with his people. Ben's home was filled with love, music, laughter and often half the neighborhood kids.
Ben had so many gifts to share, some of his greatest were his ability to find fun in any moment and to find memories hiding in plain sight. All who knew Ben knew he had so much love to give, and it shone through in all of his relationships with family, friends, neighbors, co-workers and animals. If you've been on a ski lift or in a pool with Ben, you know. If you called to share a part of your day with Ben, you know. If you took a minute to stand by the water cooler at work with Ben, you know. If you've been to JD's Drive-In with Ben, you know. If all you did was crawl on his lap or sit with Ben, you know. No moment was too small to connect, share and likely find a reason to laugh.
The other love of Ben's life was music. He started his musical journey playing guitar, drums, and trumpet, from there it grew into creating music and being a DJ. Over the years Ben loved to attend concerts with friends and even put on several of his own shows showcasing his musical talents. Ben loved to connect with friends to create music and over the last few years had begun creating music with his son, Wesley. Together their love of music grew, and they released many original pieces. Recently Ben made a trip with friends to the Mecca of Techno music, Detroit, something he had been talking about for years. Ben stood toe to toe with icons of the industry, soaking in the history and having the time of his life.
Ben, we will miss your smile, your laugh, your hairstyles, your creativity, your JD's charcuterie boards, your love and we will all wait until the day we sit together again.
Ben is survived by his children, Wesley Wilfer, Stella Wilfer, and Miles Wilfer. He is also survived by his father, Paul Wilfer; sister, Ashley (Travis) McDonough; and nieces, Brooke, Lily and Marin McDonough. Ben was preceded in death by his mother, Betsy Wilfer.
A celebration of life for Ben will be held on Friday, July 7 at Telulah Park in
Appleton, Wisconsin. We will celebrate Ben with a visitation beginning at 1:00 pm, commemorative discing event beginning at 3:00 pm, service at 5:00 pm with a dinner to follow.
