Benjamin Yoshikawa Obituary

Benjamin Yoshikawa
December 11, 1924 - November 28, 2025
Benjamin Yoshikawa passed away peacefully on November 28, 2025, just weeks before his 101st birthday. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Miyeko; his daughters, Julia Wong (Jeff) and Nikki Yoshikawa; and his granddaughter, Marisa Wong.
Ben worked from 1964 to 2013 at Daphne (Cathay and Ashley-McMullen) Funerals. He retired at the age of 89 after nearly five decades of dedicated service, during which he supported countless families and provided Buddhist funeral services with compassion and care.
He devoted much of his life to volunteering for the Japantown community. His many contributions included service to the Buddhist Church of San Francisco (where he served as President in 1989), Soko Gakuen Japanese Language School, Kokusei-ryu Shigin Federation of the U.S. & Canada, Northern California Kokusei-ryu Shiginkai, SF Kokuseikai, SF Suisekikai, Hiroshima Kenjinkai, Jikekai-Japanese Benevolent Society, Hoseikai, SF Bonsai Club, and the Japanese American Association.
Ben was an avid Bay Area sports fan, cheering faithfully for the San Francisco Giants, the 49ers, and the Golden State Warriors. He was also a fan of sweets, especially ice cream, cake, and cookies.
