Sally Lui Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Colma Cremation & Funeral Services - Colma on Dec. 28, 2025.
Sally lived an eventful life. She was born in San Francisco, California on January 17th, 1989. A
healthy baby surrounded by family, Sally grew up with spunk and ferocity. She passed away
peacefully and surrounded by friends and family on the 26th of December, 2025, after battling
with cancer for years. She was 36 years young
Although she was never a fan of reading, Sally always excelled in her academics. She
graduated from Lowell High School before going off to obtain a Bachelors degree from UC San
Diego. Going a step further, Sally earned her license as a Registered Respiratory Therapist in
2017 as the top student in her class.
She was a hard working respiratory care practitioner. She practiced at UCSF Children's
Hospital, where she primarily worked with pediatric and neonatal patients. She was always
passionate about her work at the hospital, where she had a helping hand in saving the lives of
many kids.
In between resuscitating children at work, Sally enjoyed traveling and food. Although she didn't
get a chance to travel to all the places that she wanted, she was able to enjoy an impressive list
of destinations. She enjoyed visiting the macaque monkeys in Bali, eating banh mi in Hanoi,
marveling at the temples of Chiang Mai, hiking the Game of Thrones castle walls in Croatia, and
bonding with the street cats of Montenegro. Her favorite of all, traveling through Japan to visit
Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka. With an insatiable appetite for sushi, Sally devoured endless plates
from the revolving sushi bar before making her way to Tenryu-ji Temple. In the beautiful and
serene gardens of the temple, she was proposed to by her husband-to-be.
Sally is preceded in death by her mother, Yong Qin Huang.
She is survived by her husband, Nelson Ma and their beloved dog, Chip Ma.
Sally, we already miss you so much, and we will continue to miss you to the end of time. You
came into this world as a daughter, found sisters in the friends you've made, and became a
wonderful and supportive wife to your husband. You always fought for what was right. You made
the world a better place with your brief time here.
