Bennett "Ben" James Clark, affectionately known as "G-Dad," passed away peacefully at his home in
Williamsburg, VA, on December 9, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on October 23, 1936, in
York, PA, Ben lived a life marked by dedication, love, and an insatiable curiosity for the world around him.
A proud Army veteran, Ben furthered his education by earning a Master's degree in Management Information Systems from George Washington University. His professional career was distinguished by his role as a project manager for BASF, where he applied his intellect and leadership skills with great success.
Ben was a man of many talents and passions. He was an accomplished guitarist and a skilled woodworker and carpenter. His culinary skills were equally impressive, delighting family and friends with his creations.
An avid outdoorsman, Ben enjoyed snow-skiing, water-skiing, and golf, activities through which he taught his children the value of perseverance and joy in movement.
Ben was a perpetual scholar, an intellectual whose love for reading and deep conversations enriched the lives of those around him. His wisdom, humor, and ability to engage in meaningful dialogue made him a cherished companion and mentor.
Preceded in death by his parents, Miles and Lucy Clark, Ben is survived by his devoted wife, Ann W. Clark; his sister, Ann Eyerly; his children, Bill Clark (Beth) and Missy Clark (David); and his grandchildren, Bennett Clark, Renn Clark, Wiley Hurt, McKenna Hurt, and Quinn Hurt (Kayde). His beloved dog, Cassie, also survives him.
In the words of his daughter, "My heart is heavy to say that my dear father passed away Monday night at home. I want to honor him by telling a short story of the man and father he was to me… He was the most supportive and loving dad, grandfather, husband, and father-in-law. He loved deep conversations and always taught me to see other people's perspectives. He believed in broadening your horizons and always being open to trying new things and trying to find the joy in learning. He should have been on Jeopardy because he knew almost every answer. I could turn to him for advice and he guided me through all of my milestones in life."
Ben's legacy of love, wisdom, and kindness will endure in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the profound impact he had on the lives of his family and friends.
