Bennett E Palmer

Bennett Ely Palmer went to be with the Lord on the 30th day of March 2026, at the age of 85. He was born on March 16, 1941, to Ruth Buehrer and Leonard Palmer.

He married Darlene Snyder on June 19, 1965, and they had three children: Leonard, James, and Laura. After high school Ben spent four proud years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He spent these years in California and Okinawa, Japan. After serving as a Marine, he earned his journeyman card in tool and die where he spent the remainder of his career. He worked several years at Stubnutz Spring Division Hoover Ball Bearing and finished at General Motors where he retired. He was a Boy Scout Leader and a softball coach for his children.

Ben was proceeded in death by his parents, his foster parents, and his wife of 49½ years. He is survived by his children; Leonard (Janet) Palmer, James (Colette) Palmer, Laura (Berta) Palmer, an adopted daughter Renate (Daryl) Kempher, 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 3 great-great- grandchildren. Ben was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards while camping. He was a man of few words but was always good for a laugh through his brutal (slanted) honesty. He was loved by many and will be missed by more.

Funeral Services for Bennett will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home, Addison with Pastor Matthew SeGraves officiating. Burial will follow at Green's Lakeside Cemetery, Manitou Beach with Military Honor's conducted by Hannan-Colvin Post #180 American Legion, Hudson. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026 from 5-7 P.M. at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home, Addison. Memorial contributions can be made to Veteran Affairs.
