Bennie Kay Murphy, ago 80, of Mineral Wells, Texas passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 27,2026 at Palo Pinto General Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Bennie Kay was born on November 13, 1945 in Perrin, Texas. She is the daughter of James and BillyJo Baggett Murray. She attended Perrin schools from 1st thru 12th grade, graduating high school in 1964 then attended business school in Fort Worth. She worked for Radio Shack for 25 years and Tarrant County Sheriff's Office for 10 years.
Bennie Kay was a wonderful storyteller. She would talk fondly of her days growing up in Perrin. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was MaBennie to her grandsons.
In November of 1966 Bennie Kay married the love of her life, Hugh Murphy. They were married for 45 years before Hugh passed away. She was also preceded in death by her grandsons Gary McCarroll and Landon Robinson.
Survivors include her daughter Tanya Murphy and Dalton Robinson of Mineral Wells; brother, James Murray (Paulette); sisters Carol Mae Murray North ( Bruce) of Fort Worth, Doris Kyle of Texas City, and Patricia Tipps of Timberon, NM; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at Baum Carlock Bumgardner Funeral Home, 302 West Hubbard St., Mineral Wells, Texas, 76067.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 pm. on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at Gospel Light Baptist Church, 601 Country Club Pkwy, Mineral Wells, Texas.
