Benny Ray Brown, 81, of Alma, passed away Thursday, October 20, 2022. He was born July 31, 1941 in Mena to the late Benjamin and Opal (Thompson) Brown. He was a 1958 graduate of Mena High School, and retired from Small World in Van Buren. He was a member and song leader of Alma Church of Christ. He enjoyed cooking, and was a nature enthusiast, he loved to hunt, fish, garden, and camp.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Ann Brown; three sisters, Mary Ann Brown, Wanda L. Brown, and Cora Sadler; two brothers, John Oscar Brown, and Jerry Wayne Brown; and a grandson, Michael James.
He is survived by his wife, Sally Brown of the home; three daughters, Debbie James and husband Jay of Rolla, MO, Jackie Evatt and husband Brian of Little Rock, and Terri Brown of Little Rock; three sons, Ron Brown and wife Darla of Alma, Larry Brown and wife Dee of Natural Dam, and Roy Brown of Grapevine, TX; two stepsons, Brad Bartlett and wife Jessica of Palmetto, FL, and Matt Bartlett and wife Sharon of Stoughton, WI; a sister, Ruby Boyette and husband Warren of Wendell, NC; ten grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 24, 2022 at the Alma Church of Christ, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR. Ashes will be placed at Nunley Cemetery in Mena, privately, at a later date.
The family will visit with friends from 10:00 a.m. until the service Monday, at the church, 45 Railroad Street in Alma.
