Benny C. Parish, 74, of Newport, passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at Carolina East Medical Center.
A funeral service for Benny will be held privately.
Benny was born on July 16, 1950, to the late Robert and Lily Parish. A proud patriot, Benny served his country honorably as a member of the United States Marine Corps for four years. He continued his service in the Army National Guard Reserves and dedicated 24 years to civil service, working in facility maintenance.
Benny never met a stranger and left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. Whether hunting, fishing, flounder gigging, or racing in the mud bog, he approached life with much enthusiasm. Fifty-One years ago, Benny introduced Chip Khal, his best friend to hunting. For over 40 years he cherished hunting trips with his two cousins, Bruce and Henry King, an annual tradition that brought him countless memories.
He loved cooking in the Newport Pig Pickin’ Contest and cooking across the state even winning the world’s largest whole hog contest once. Benny loved his family especially spending quality time hunting and fishing with his son and two grandsons. His two loyal Labradors and Walkers hunting dogs were always by his side, his connection with them was deep. Benny will be remembered for his warm heart, and love for family and friends.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Sheila Parish of the home; daughter, Amy Melissa Parish of Newport; son, J.W. Condon (Keren) of Newport; grandchildren, Alexander Chase Condon, Dylan Edward Condon, Sydney Berry, London Parish; and one great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, Benny was preceded in death by his brother, Ricky Parish.
