Benny Ray Woods Sr.

Mr. Benny Ray Woods Sr. age 76, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. He was the son of the late Joseph Lee Woods and the late Nellie Strickland Woods. He was born in Savannah on September 20, 1946. Mr. Woods was an avid golfer, fisherman, and hunter, he also enjoyed karaoke with family and friends. He was a devoted husband to his angel of 40 years, Louella Martin Woods.

 

Mr. Woods is survived by his wife, Louella Martin Woods; two sons, Benny Ray Woods Jr (Hazel) of Lucedale, Ms and Dennis H. Bishop (Lillian) of Lyons, Ga; three daughters, Kimberly Gillespie of Daisy, Ga, Monique Bishop Mixon (Emory) of Lyons, Ga, and Denise Swain of Lyons, Ga; fourteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren with one on the way; two brothers, Jack V. Woods of Surrency, Ga and Billy W. Woods (Grace) of Carrollton, Ga, one sister, Angie Lindsey of Surrency, Ga; several nieces and nephews also survive.

 

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. from the Nobles Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dr. David R. Pelka officiating.

 

Interment will follow in Woods Family Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday at Nobles Funeral Home Chapel.

 

Active Pallbearers are James Mixon, Jacob Mixon, Ty Brooks, Bryan Bishop, Cooper Bishop, and Tim Kauger.

 

Honorary Pallbearers are his golfing friends.
